Here is the volunteer blog team for the 72nd Annual FPRA Annual Conference:
BRYAN BEATY (@bryanbeaty) is the executive assistant to the president at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce. He coordinates presentations, speeches, special events, correspondence and legislative affairs for the president. Beaty received his Associate in Arts degree from Indian River Community College, his Bachelor’s specializing in communications and public relations from the University of Florida and his Master’s of public administration from Nova Southeastern University. He is the incoming president of FPRA’s Treasure Coast Chapter.
GINNY COOPER (@GinnyCooper) is principal of The Cooper Group, providing public relations, marketing, event design and social media management services to clients in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, New York and Wyoming. She is also a published author, specializing in feature writing. Cooper has been an FPRA member since 2004 and was president of FPRA’s Southwest Florida Chapter in 2008-09. She has previously served as the chapter’s Image Awards chair and programs chair. Pending membership approval, Cooper will serve on the 2010-11 Executive Committee as Vice President of Golden Image.
ANDREA FARMER, APR, CPRC (@AndreaFarmer) is public relations manager at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Brevard County, where she plans and implements a variety of public relations programs to tell the NASA story. Andrea has been a member of FPRA since 1986, serves on the board of the Space Coast Chapter as Accreditation Chair and was honored to receive the PR Professional of the Year in 2007. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Florida.
AMANDA FORBES, APR (@amanda4bes) is a senior account executive | public relations for Fry Hammond Barr, a full-service marketing and communications agency with offices in Orlando and Tampa, Fla., where she leads local and national public relations and social media initiatives for clients in the retail and government industries, among others. An FPRA member since 2004, she is currently the incoming president-elect for FPRA’s Orlando Area Chapter and has served in numerous roles on the chapter’s board. She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Central Florida and is an active member of the Junior League of Greater Orlando.
CHRIS GENT (@chrisgent) is vice president of corporate communications for Kissimmee Utility Authority. An FPRA member since 1994, he currently serves as vice president of technology for FPRA’s Orlando Area Chapter. Chris has served seven years on the FPRA State Board, including five years on the Executive Committee. He is a past president of the Orlando Area Chapter and winner of both the Doris Fleischman Award and the Dick Pope Grand All Golden Image Award. Chris spearheaded the FPRA conference blog from 2006-2008 and again this year. He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from UCF in Orlando and recently completed his Master’s degree in strategic public relations from The George Washington University.
KERRI GOLDSMITH (@kerrigoldsmith) has over two decades of corporate public relations and marketing experience and is currently with HBK Sorce Financial. Prior to joining HBK, she was president of the agency Dark Horse Strategic Marketing, Inc. Goldsmith holds degrees in commercial art, business administration and marketing. To promote professional awareness and responsible use of social media, Goldsmith is an active member of the steering committee for the Social Media Club of Southwest Florida, and participates in local Tweetup, Meetup and Barcamp planning efforts. A member of FPRA’s Southwest Florida Chapter since 1994, she currently serves as the chapter’s Emerging Communications Chair.
JOSH HALLETT (@hyku) is director of Voce Connect, a part of Voce Communications. Based in Silicon Valley, Voce serves clients throughout the world with a focus on traditional communications and social media marketing. Hallett helps direct social media strategy and execute international programs for many clients, including Disney Parks, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, eBay and NetApp. He joined FPRA in 1996 and has always been an advocate of technology’s role in public relations. This includes developing FPRA’s first statewide website in 1996 and FPRA Blog Week in 2006. Hallet is a member of the Dick Pope/Polk County Chapter.
MORGAN LAMBORN (@morgiel) is a recent graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. in Journalism. While in school, she worked in the Marketing and Public Relations department at the Florida Museum of Natural History for two years. Morgan is pursuing a career in communications and enjoys exploring the capabilities of social media for business. She has been a student member of FPRA’s Gainesville Chapter since 2008 and earned a State Golden Image Award for Student Computer-Generated Communication in 2009.
ADRIENNE MOORE, APR, CPRC is principal of Adrienne Moore Communications Strategies, handling media relations, special events, proofreading, and social media. Adrienne served as Public Relations / Development Specialist for 25 years for public radio station WQCS / 88.9 FM. In 1984, she joined FPRA’s Treasure Coast Chapter, serving three terms as president, and receiving numerous Image and Golden Image Awards. She was the 2005-06 FPRA State President and this year served as chair of the FPR Education Foundation. She is the recipient of FPRA’s most prestigious awards: Col. John W. Dillin Award, Doris Fleischman Award, Member of the Year as well as Chapter President of the Year.
WENDY JO MOYER, APR (@WJMoyer) serves as the communications manager for WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA (WCF) where she plans, implements and evaluates communications efforts for the organization. Prior to WCF Wendy Jo worked in both corporate and agency public relations and marketing communications representing organizations such as Nickelodeon Family Suites, AAA Travel, Planet Hollywood, the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, Wuesthoff Medical Center, the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, Middleton Lawn & Pest Control and Tijuana Flats. She joined the Orlando Area Chapter of FPRA in 2003, has served numerous roles on its board and is currently the incoming president.
HEIDI OTWAY, APR (@heidiotway) is director of public relations at SalterMitchell, an advertising, public relations and social marketing firm based in Tallahassee. She is president of the FPRA Capital Chapter and has served on a number of committees since joining in 2003. She is passionate about public relations, social media and FPRA. Otway is an avid Twitterer and Facebook enthusiast.
SAMANTHA SCOTT (@getpushing) is Grand Poobah (aka President/Owner) of Pushing the Envelope, Inc. in Bonita Springs where Samantha leads the marketing communications firm. PTE offers public relations, marketing, advertising, graphic & Web design, event coordination as well social media strategy and management. Versed in traditional PR and with a passion for technology, she is heavily involved in social media both for the business and personally. Samantha has been an FPRA member since 2006 and was education chair of FPRA’s Southwest Florida Chapter in 2009-10.
KATHLEEN TAYLOR, APR (@KatTayls) counsels clients on company message development, reputation management, traditional and social media tactics and overall communications strategy activities as an independent practitioner. She is a manager at pearl, a brand communications firm based in Cape Coral, FL. Taylor’s career began as a broadcast reporter on WGCU Public Radio in Fort Myers, Florida, and in 2006, she moved into public relations, working first at the Alliance for the Arts, then at Lee County Electric Cooperative. Her work has earned public relations and journalism awards. She currently serves as president of the Southwest Florida Chapter of FPRA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and Broadcasting from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers.
